Michael (Erik) Kurilla

LtGen. Michael (Erik) Kurilla nominated to serve as Commander of US Central Command

President Joseph R. Biden has nominated LtGen. Michael (Erik) E. Kurilla to be the Commander, US Central Command. If confirmed, he will succeed Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie in the position. LtGen. Kurilla is currently serving as the Commander, XVIII Airborne Corps. Prior to joining the XVIII Airborne Corps, LtGen. Kurilla served as the Chief of Staff, US Central Command. He also served as Commanding General for the 82nd Airborne Division, Deputy Director for Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism, J-3, Joint Staff, Deputy Commanding General (Maneuver), 1st Infantry Division and Assistant Commanding General, Joint Special Operations Command. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a M.B.A. from Regis University, and a M.S. in National Security Studies from the National War College.
