Cdr. Devon M. Hockaday named new Commanding Officer of the Navy's Helicopter Maritime Strike Weapons School Pacific

Cdr. Devon M. Hockaday recently became the new Commanding Officer of Helicopter Maritime Strike Weapons School Pacific. He succeeds former Commanding Officer, Cdr. Steven L. Dobesh, in the position. He was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program and reported to NAS Pensacola, FL for flight training in May 2002. Cdr. Hockaday began his operational flying in July 2004 with the “Swamp Foxes” of HSL 44. He reported to the HSM 70 “Spartans” in July 2010 as the squadron’s Training Officer and deployed aboard USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77). Cdr. Hockaday reported as a Department Head in HSM 78, the “Bluehawks” and completed one deployment aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in support of Operation SOUTHERN SEAS, serving as both Operations Officer and Maintenance Officer. He most recently served as an Action Officer, U.S. Cyber Command, J-5 Directorate, and as Executive Officer, Helicopter Maritime Strike Weapons School Pacific from June 2020 to September 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Jacksonville University and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from Naval War College.
