MGen. William H. Seely is the new Director of the Marine Corps Intelligence Department

September 15, 2021: Mgen. William H. Seely recently became the new Director of U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Department. He succeeds former Director, Bgen. Melvin G. Carter, in the position. He was commissioned through NROTC George Washington University. His command leadership assignments include: Company Commander, India Company, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion (2000-02), Battalion Commander, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division (2006-08), Commander, Marine Corps Intelligence Schools, Training Command (2011-13) and Commander, Task Force-Iraq, CJTF-Operation Inherent Resolve (2019-20). Mgen. Seely’s staff assignments include: Deputy Intelligence Director, Joint Intelligence Center, U.S. Central Command (2005-06), Director, Intelligence Division, Combat Development and Integration, MCCDC (2010-11), Chief of Staff, Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace (2015), and Intelligence Director (J-2), Combined Joint Forces Land Component Commander-Iraq (2015-16). As a General Officer, he served as the Marine Corps Director of Intelligence (2016-17), Marine Corps Director of Communication (2017-19) and Commander, Task Force-Iraq, CJTF-Operation Inherent Resolve (2019-20). Most recently he served as the Commandant for Joint Forces Staff College from (2020-2021). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from American University, and Master’s Degrees from Oklahoma State University, National Intelligence University, and the Naval War College.
