Maj. Gen. Jeannie M. Leavitt is the new Chief of Safety and Commander for the Air Force Safety Center

September 13, 2021: Maj. Gen. Jeannie M. Leavitt became Department of the Air Force chief of safety and commander of the Air Force Safety Center during a change of command ceremony recently at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. She replaced Maj. Gen. John T. Rauch, Jr., who had served as the service's top safety officer since August 2017. Prior to her current assignment, Maj. Gen. Leavitt was Director of Operations and Communications, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Maj. Gen. Rauch will retire in December after more than 32 years of service.
