New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Barbara J. Vigil to be Secretary of the Children, Youth and Families Department

September 13, 2021: New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Barbara J. Vigil to be Secretary of the Children, Youth and Families Department. Ms. Vigil served as a Justice on the New Mexico Supreme Court for almost nine years, prior to which she served as a Judge in the state's First Judicial District, as a Litigation Attorney in the New Mexico Risk Management Division, as an Assistant Attorney General at the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General, and as an Associate Attorney at Weinbrenner, Richards, Paulowsky, Sandenaw & Ramirez, PA. She earned a BBA in accounting at New Mexico State University in 1981 and a JD at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1985. Ms. Vigil replaces former Secretary Brian Blalock, who stepped down.
