The U.S. Senate has confirmed Anurima Bhargava as Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom

June 8, 2021: The U.S. Senate has confirmed Anurima Bhargava as Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. Curently the President of Anthem of Us, Ms. Bhargava has served as Educational Opportunities Section Chief of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, as Education Practice Director at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, as a Fellow at the Institute of Politics and the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University, as the Leadership in Government Fellow at Open Society Foundations, as a Investment Banker at Merrill Lynch, and as Counsel to the New York City Department of Education. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned a JD at Columbia University. Ms. Bhargava succeeds former Chair Gayle Manchin.
