Jonathan Meyer has been nominated to serve as the next General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)

April 30, 2021: Jonathan Meyer has been nominated to serve as the next General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Meyer is a former DHS Deputy General Counsel (2013 to 2016) and Senior Counselor to the General Counsel (2011 to 2013). He was Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the Department of Justice from 2009 to 2011. After serving as Counsel to then-Senator Joe Biden (2001 to 2007), he worked at Amtrak as Special Deputy General Counsel. After serving in the Obama-Biden Administration, Meyer was a Partner with Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP and an advisor to the Biden campaign.
