April 7, 2021: Former Treasury Department official William Fields has returned as a Senior Advisor to the Treasury Secretary. Fields served for three years in the Treasury Department during President Obama’s second term. He was Special Assistant to the Office of the Treasury Undersecretary for Domestic Finance until mid-2016. From 2009 to 2013, Fields was a Legislative Assistant on the staff of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs during the drafting and passage of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. After leaving the Treasury, Fields worked for a media startup co-founded by LeBron James, and then for Google subsidiary Sidewalk Labs. He joined the Biden-Harris transition team last year. Fields holds a Bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
