President Joseph Biden has appointed Norma V. Cantu to a two-year term as a Commissioner of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

February 19, 2021: President Joseph Biden has appointed Norma V. Cantu to a two-year term as a Commissioner of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Ms. Cantu is the Ken McIntyre Professor for Excellence in School Leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy and a Professor in the School of Law. She served as the Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights in the Clinton Administration and as Regional Counsel and Education Director of the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Ms. Cantu earned a BA at the University of Texas-Pan American and a JD at Harvard Law School.
