Prerak Shaw recently became the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas

January 12, 2021: Prerak Shaw recently became the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. He succeeds former U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox in the position. Prior to his current position, he previously served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney. Mr. Shah has held multiple senior leadership roles at the Department of Justice, including Deputy Associate Attorney General in the office overseeing the civil and criminal work of the Department’s Antitrust, Civil, Civil Rights, Environment & Natural Resources, and Tax Divisions. He also served as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Department’s Natural Resources Section. Before joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Shah served as the Chief of Staff and Chief Counsel to United States Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Senior Counsel to the Attorney General of Texas, and as an Assistant Solicitor General of Texas. Mr. Shah received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
