Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf’s nomination for the position has been withdrawn by the White House

January 11, 2021: Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf’s nomination for the position has been withdrawn by the White House. Wolf was confirmed in 2019 as Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy, and Plans. In November 2019, President Trump announced he would serve as acting Secretary of DHS, but the appointment was ruled unlawful by U.S. District Court in November 2020. Wolf took over as acting Secretary following the departure of Kevin McAleenan. He served as Chief of Staff to former DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen from 2017 to 2019.
