October 15, 2020: Cdr Dylan G. Porter recently assumed command of Training Squadron Seven (VT-7) at Meridian Naval Air Station, Mississippi. He replaced Cdr. Michael R. Poe. Prior to his current assignment Cdr. Porter was executive assistant to the Commanding General, Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) in Fort Eustis, Virginia. Cmdr. Dylan Porter is a native of Beaufort, South Carolina, and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He commissioned through the NROTC program in May 2002 and completed his aviator training with Training Squadron (VT) 28 and VT-22, where he received his Wings of Gold and designated a naval aviator in February 2005. He reported to the "Greyhawks" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120 in Norfolk, where he received initial E2-C Hawkeye training. Porter joined the "Eagles" of VT-7 in May 2019 with over 2,400 flight hours and nearly 400 arrested landings. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike/Flight Air Medal (4), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3).
