Leroy Smith, County Counsel for Ventura County government, has Retired

October 14, 2020: Leroy Smith, County Counsel for Ventura County government, has retired. He joined the County Counsel's Office more than 30 years ago as an attorney in employment law after working in the same field for the U.S. Department of Labor and in private practice in Los Angeles. He was appointed by the board to succeed Noel Klebaum as County Counsel. The Board of Supervisors have appointed Chief Assistant County Counsel Michael Walker, the second-ranking attorney in the office, to replace Smith on an acting basis.
