Sylvia Moir, the first female Police Chief in the history of Tempe, AZ, has Resigned

October 14, 2020: Sylvia Moir, the first female Police Chief in the history of Tempe, AZ, has resigned from her position. Chief Moir spent more than 30 years in law enforcement, serving as Police Chief for El Cerrito, as a Commander for Menlo Park, and as a patrol officer, field training officer, detective, academy commander, and watch commander for Sacramento. She earned a BS in criminal justice from California State University in Sacramento and a MA in organizational management and a MS from the Naval Postgraduate School - Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
