LtGen. Kirk S. Pierce recently became the new Commander of the 1st Air Force /AFNORTH

September 14, 2020: LtGen. Kirk S. Pierce recently became the new Commander of the 1st Air Force /AFNORTH. He succeeds former Commander, LtGen. Marc Henry Sasseville in the position. LtGen. Pierce was commissioned in May 1988 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Notre Dame. Throughout his career, he has commanded at the squadron, group and wing level. Prior to his current assignment, LtGen. Pierce served as the Deputy Director of the Air National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College.
