Gayle Miller appointed Chief Deputy of Policy, California Deaprtment of Finance

May 13, 2019: Gayle Miller was appointed as the Chief Deputy of Policy at the California Department of Finance by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday, May 2, 2019. Miller, 44, Sacramento Democrat, was most recently a Senior Policy Analyst at the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration since 2018. She was previously the Deputy Controller and Director of Policy at the Office of the State Controller in 2017 and 2018; a Principal Consultant at the Office of the California State Senate President Pro Tempore from 2016 to 2018; and she held several positions at the California State Senate, including Consultant at the Office of Research from 2014 to 2016, Staff Director at the Governance And Finance Committee from 2006 to 2014, and Principal Consultant at the Revenue and Taxation Committee from 2001 to 2005. Miller received a master of business administration degree in strategy and communications from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master of business administration degree in economics and finance from Columbia University. Miller will be paid $188,580 per year in her new position.
