Michelle Fecteau appointed Secretary, Michigan State Board of Education

Jan. 11, 2019: Casandra E. Ulbrich was appointed as the President of the Michigan State Board of Education on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, in a unanimous vote by State Board Members. Ulbrich, Rochester Hills Democrat, was the Co-President for the past two years during a shared-power agreement when the State Board had four Democrat and four Republican Members. With the results of the statewide elections held in November, 2018, the State Board now has six Democrats and two Republicans. Also on Jan. 8, 2019, Pamela Pugh, Saginaw Democrat, was appointed as the State Board’s Vice President; Michelle Fecteau, Detroit Democrat, was appointed as the Secretary; and Tom McMillin, Oakland Township Republican, was appointed as the Treasurer.
