Laura Kelly, Democrat, elected Governor of Kansas

Nov. 8, 2018: Laura Kelly, Democrat, was elected as the Governor of Kansas on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Kelly defeated Kris W. Kobach, Republican, the Kansas Secretary of State. Kelly received about 48 percent of the statewide vote, and Kobach, 52, received about 43 percent. Kelly, 68, is a longtime Legislator from Topeka.
