Frederick County, Md., County Executive Jan Gardner, Democrat, is re-elected to office

Nov. 7, 2018: Incumbent Frederick County, Md., County Executive Jan Gardner, Democrat, was re-elected to a second term in office yesterday, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Gardner defeated Kathy Afzali, Republican, and Earl Robbins, unaffiliated, with Gardner receiving 51.1 percent of the votes cast, as of 11:45 p.m. Nov. 6. The County Executive oversees and helps direct all county government departments and agencies, and is elected to a four-year term. The County Executive is paid $95,000 per year with benefits, and cannot serve more than two consecutive terms.
