U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock, Virginia Republican, loses race for re-election

Nov. 7, 2018: Jennifer T. Wexton, Democrat, defeated incumbent Rep. Barbara Comstock, Republican, in a Congressional election held yesterday, Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, to win Virginia’s Congressional District 10 seat, ending nearly forty years of Republican control of a Northern Virginia seat. The race was one of the most closely watched in the country. Wexton, a State Senator and former Prosecutor, received 56 percent of the votes cast and Comstock received 44 percent, with nearly all voting precincts reporting results. The 10th District includes Loudoun County and parts of Fairfax and Prince William counties, as well as Clarke and Frederick counties and the city of Winchester to the west.
