Brian Harrell appointed as Assistant Secretary, Infrastructure Protection, Homeland Security Department

Nov. 7, 2018: Brian Harrell was appointed as the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. Harrell, of Virginia, was most recently the managing director of enterprise security at the Duke Energy Corporation. He was previously the director for critical infrastructure protection programs at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. While at that corporation, Harrell was also the director of the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center. Harrell previously worked for the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a bachelor’s degree from Hawaii Pacific University and a master’s degree in homeland security from Pennsylvania State University.
