Nov. 6, 2018: Gabriel P. Sanchez was appointed as a California Court of Appeal Judge for Division One, First District, by Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday, October 26, 2018. Sanchez was most recently a Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary at the Governor’s Office since 2012. He was previously a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, in 2011 and 2012, and he was an associate at Munger, Tolles and Olson LLP from 2006 to 2011. Sanchez was a Law Clerk for Judge Richard A. Paez at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, in 2005 and 2006. He received his law degree from the Yale Law School, a master of philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor of arts degree from Yale College. In his new position, Sanchez fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Robert L. Dondero, who retired on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
