Brian Young hired as Fire Chief in Corona, California

October 9, 2018: Brian Young has been hired as the Fire Chief in Corona, Calif., effective as of August 10, 2018. Young most recently worked for twenty-eight years for the Orange County, Calif., Fire Authority, where he was recently the Assistant Chief of Operations, with the oversight of seventy-two fire stations that serve twenty-three cities and unincorporated areas. Young’s background includes work in the areas of fire suppression, urban search and rescue, hazardous material response, fire investigation and paramedic. Corona has been without a permanent Fire Chief since David Duffy retired in April, 2018. Young was originally scheduled to start his new job on Monday, August 13, 2018, but he started on Friday, August 10, 2018. Young received a bachelor’s degree in fire protection administration from Cal State University Los Angeles and a master’s degree in security studies from the Naval Post Graduate School.
