Judy Reinke confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro

Sept. 10, 2018: Judy R. Reinke was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro by the U.S. Senate on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. Reinke, of Virginia, is currently the most senior career member of the Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce, and she has worked for more than thirty years as a strategist and advocate for U.S. commercial interests across the world, with an emphasis on Europe and Southeast Asia. From 2013 to 2017, Reinke was the Deputy Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service/Global Markets division at the Commerce Department, and she was the Acting Assistant Secretary and Director General for nearly two years. She has worked at six U.S. Missions overseas, including leading the operations of the Foreign Commercial Service in India, the Philippines, and Thailand. Reinke received a B.A. from Smith College and a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University. Reinke speaks German, basic French, Bahasa Indonesia and Thai.
