Alaina Teplitz confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Maldives

Sept. 10, 2018: Alaina B. Teplitz was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to Maldives by the U.S. Senate on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018. Teplitz, of Colorado, is a career member of the federal government’s Senior Foreign Service, and she is currently the U.S. Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. She was previously the Director of the Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing and Innovation at the U.S. Department of State, and she was also the Management Minister Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, and the Deputy Executive Director at the Department’s Bureau of Near East and South Asian Affairs. Teplitz received a B.A. from Georgetown University in 1991. She speaks Albanian, Chinese-Mandarin, French, and Mongolian.
