Ronald Vitiello nominated as Assistant Secretary, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Department

August 8, 2018: Ronald D. Vitiello was nominated as the Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday, August 6 2018. Vitiello, of Illinois, is currently the Deputy Director and Senior Official Performing the Duties of Director at ICE. Before that, he was the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Acting Deputy Commissioner. Vitiello started his career in Laredo, Texas, more than thirty years ago, as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. Vitiello has worked at the Operations Division at the former DHS Border and Transportation Security Directorate; as a Chief Patrol Agent in Swanton, Vermont; and as a Chief Patrol Agent in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.
