Brig. Gen. Lorna Mahlock assigned as Chief Information Officer, U.S. Marine Corps

August 8, 2018: Brig. Gen. Lorna Mahlock has been assigned as the Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps. Mahlock was assigned to the position in July, 2018. She is the first black woman to reach the rank of Brigadier General in the Marine Corps. Mahlock was most recently the Deputy Director for Plans, Policy and Operations and the Commanding Officer of the Marine Air Control Group 18 in Okinawa, Japan. The Marine Corps had been without a permanent CIO since Brig. Gen. Dennis Crall left in February, 2018, for a new position at the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Ken Bible, the Deputy Director of C4 and the Deputy CIO, had been the Marine Corps’ Acting CIO.
