Peter Beilenson hired as Sacramento County, Calif., Health Services Department Director

August 7, 2018: Peter Beilenson has been hired as the Director of the Sacramento County, Calif., Department of Health Services, effective on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Beilenson has more than twenty-five years of experience in the delivery of public health services, administration and policy. He was the Baltimore City Health Commissioner from 1992 to 2005; the Howard County, Md., Health Director from 2007 to 2012; and the chief executive officer, president and founder of Evergreen Health CO-OP, a non-profit, Baltimore-based health insurer, from 2012 to 2017. As the Baltimore City Health Commissioner, Beilenson oversaw a staff of about 1,300 people, and he managed a budget of more than $250 million. Beilenson received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College; his medical doctorate from the Emory University School of Medicine; and his masters degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
