August 7, 2018: Donna Walker has been hired as the Executive Director of the Jefferson County, Col., Public Library (JCPL) by the Board of Trustees, effective on Sept. 1, 2018. Walker succeeds Pam Nissler, who plans to retire in August, 2018. Walker is currently the JCPL’s Director of Public Services, a position she has held since 2012. Walker came to JCPL from the Arapahoe Library District, where she worked in various posts, most recently as the manager for Neighborhood Libraries, Services to Children and Families, and Outreach. She has presented at local, state, national and international conferences on library and outreach services. She is currently on the Public Library Association’s Leadership Development Committee and on the Board of Jefferson County’s Communities that Care initiative. She is a proud alumna of Leadership Jeffco and mentor to emerging leaders in the Colorado Association of Libraries Leadership Institute. Walker has taught at the graduate and undergraduate levels, published in library literature, and been named a “Mover and Shaker” by Library Journal. Walker received her master of library and information science from the University of Washington; her master of arts in English from the University of Denver; and a bachelor of arts degree in English from Elmhurst College.
