Valerie Cardenas appointed as Member, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation Board of Directors

June 13, 2018: William H. Dietz, Jr., was appointed as the Chairman of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation’s Board of Directors and Valerie V. Cardenas and Lori Cobos were appointed as Board Members by Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday, June 8, 2018. The Board oversees the provision of affordable housing for low-income Texas residents. Dietz, of Waco, is a financial adviser and the president of Dietz Financial Services, LLC. He is a member of the Financial Services Institute, the city of Waco Zoning Board of Adjustments, and the Rotary Club of Waco. Additionally, he is the former president of the Heart of Texas Estate Planning Council and vice-chairman of Waco Civic Theatre. Cardenas, of San Juan, is the executive vice president of mortgage banking operations for Lone Star National Bank in McAllen. She is currently a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the city of San Juan. She was recently an executive board member of Affordable Homes South Texas, Inc. Cobos, of Austin, is a lawyer in private practice, and she is the principal owner of Cobos Law Firm, where she specializes in representing and counseling clients on legal, regulatory, public policy, legislative, and business development matters in the Texas energy industry. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin, and the Gulf Coast Power Association, and she is the chairman of the Public Utility Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and a former board member of the Sul Ross State University Alumni Board.
