Christopher Bast resigns as Seattle Sustainability and Environment Office Climate and Transportation Policy Adviser

June 12, 2018: Christopher Bast was appointed as the Deputy Director of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality by Gov. Ralph Northam on Friday, June 8, 2018. Bast was most recently a Climate and Transportation Policy Adviser at the Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment, where he led electric mobility and transportation decarbonization efforts. Before that, he managed public policy and member engagement at a regional clean energy economy advocacy organization in the Northwest. He was previously the Deputy Director of Constituent Services and a Climate and Energy Policy Adviser for former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. He has held positions in Virginia state government, including Policy Adviser at the State Board of Elections and Program Manager at the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy. A Virginia native, Bast graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science, and he received a master of public administration degree from Seattle University.
