Michael Yeager nominated as U.S. Marshal for Georgia Northern District

June 11, 2011: Michael S. Yeager was nominated as a U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Yeager, of Georgia, is currently the Coweta County, Ga., Sheriff, a position that he has held for more than twenty-five years. He started his law enforcement career as a Police Officer at the Newnan Police Department in 1980. From 1982 to 1987, he worked at the Probation Division of the Georgia Department of Corrections. He started working at the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office in 1987, working as the Captain for Criminal Investigations until he was elected as Sheriff in 1992. Yeager was the President of the Georgia Sheriff’s Association in 2002 and 2003; as the Chairman of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council from 2006 to 2018; and as the President of the Constitutional Officers’ Association of Georgia in 2016 and 2017.
