Michael Baughman nominated as U.S. Marshal, Pennsylvania Western District

June 11, 2018: Michael D. Baughman was nominated as the U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Pennsylvania on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Baughman, of Pennsylvania, is currently the Acting U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Pennsylvania, a position he has held since Jan. 3, 2018. He joined the U.S. Marshals Service in 1990. He originally worked at the Washington, D.C., Superior Court before he moved to the Western District of Pennsylvania in 1995. Baughman was previously the Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal from 2011 to 2018, and a Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal from 2004 to 2011. Baughman has also worked on various Marshals Service Headquarters committees and boards throughout his career. Before he joined the Marshals Service, Baughman worked at the National Security Agency (NSA) at the U.S. Department of Defense from 1987 to 1990. Baughman received a B.A. in criminology from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The U.S. Marshals Service is a division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
