Carl Nichols nominated as U.S. District Court Judge for Washington, D.C.

June 11, 2018: Carl J. Nichols was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for Washington, D.C., on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Nichols, of Washington, D.C., is currently a partner and vice chairman of the Government and Regulatory Litigation Practice Group at the Washington, D.C., office of WilmerHale, where he is also on the firm’s management committee. Before he started working in private practice, Nichols was the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Federal Programs Branch at the Civil Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. He was later a Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General. Before he worked at the Justice Department, Nichols was a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP. Nichols received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School.
