Blake Farenthold appointed as Legislative Liaison, Texas' Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort

May 16, 2018: Former U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, Texas Republican, who recently resigned amid a sexual harassment settlement that was paid for by taxpayers, has been hired as the Legislative Liaison for the Port of Port Lavaca-Point Comfort, which is part of the Calhoun Port Authority, a division of the Texas state government. Farenthold resigned on April 6, 2018, after months of controversy about his sexual harassment settlement. His annual salary at the Port will be $160,000.10, just below the $174,000 he earned in Congress. In a statement, Port officials said Farenthold would be its full-time Legislative Liaison and will be tasked with promoting the port’s agenda. Farenthold also will be responsible for increasing the small port's profile with federal legislators, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Trump administration and other policy officials.
