May 15, 2018: Diane Gujarati was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York on Thursday, May 10, 2018. Gujarati is currently the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York, where she has worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the past nineteen years. She also worked as an adjunct professor of clinical law at the New York University School of Law until earlier in 2018. Before she joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office, she practiced for three years as a litigation associate at the New York City office of Davis Polk and Wardwell. Gujarati received her law degree from the Yale Law School.
