Gary Brown nominated as U.S. District Court Judge for New York Eastern District

May 15, 2018: Gary R. Brown was nominated as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York on Thursday, May 10, 2018. Brown, of New York, is currently a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York, where has worked since 2011. Brown also works as an adjunct professor at St. John’s School of Law. In 2014, Brown was appointed by the Board of Judges to work on the Committee of Magistrate Judges to manage more than 1,400 Hurricane Sandy cases filed in the Eastern District of New York. Before his court appointment, Brown was the Director of Litigation and Chief Compliance Officer at CA Technologies. Before he entered private practice, Brown was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York for more than fifteen years, ending his tenure there as the Chief of the Long Island Criminal Division. Brown received his law degree from the Yale Law School.
