Johnny Brown named Greenville County, S.C., Acting Sheriff

May 14, 2018: Greenville County, S.C., Sheriff Will Lewis has been suspended from office by Gov. Henry McMaster. Lewis was indicted by a grand jury on charges of misconduct in office and obstruction of justice as part of an investigation into sexual assault allegations made against Lewis by a former Sheriff's Office employee. Former Greenville County Sheriff Johnny M. Brown has been appointed by McMaster as the county’s Acting Sheriff. Brown was the Greenville County Sheriff for six terms, starting in 1972, and he was most recently a U.S. Marshal for South Carolina at the U.S. Marshals Service, a division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
