Michael Westfall appointed Virginia State Inspector General

April 16, 2018: Michael Westfall was appointed as the Virginia State Inspector General by Gov. Ralph Northam on Friday, April 13, 2018. Westfall was first appointed to the position in an acting capacity by former Gov. Terry McAuliffe in February, 2017. Before that, he was the Deputy Inspector General. Westfall started his career as an Auditor at the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of the Inspector General. A native of Norfolk, Va., Westfall received a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in accountancy from Virginia Commonwealth University.
