David Porter nominated as U.S. Court of Appeals Judge, Third Circuit

April 13, 2018: David J. Porter was nominated as a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the Third Circuit on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Porter, of Pennsylvania, is a shareholder at the Pittsburgh office of Buchanan Ingersoll and Rooney PC, where for the last twenty-three years, his practice has focused on complex commercial and constitutional litigation and regulatory matters. Before he joined the firm, Porter worked for two years as a Law Clerk for current U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit Chief Judge D. Brooks Smith, while Smith was a U.S. District Court Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Porter is a Member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Grove City College. Porter received his law degree from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.
