U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. David Thompson assigned as Vice Commander, Air Force Space Command

April 12, 2018: U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. David D. Thompson took office at the newly-created position of Vice Commander of the Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Thompson reports directly to Gen. Jay Raymond, the AFSPC Commander. Thompson was previously a Special Assistant to the AFSPC Commander. In the new AFSPC Vice Commander position, Thompson will be charged with integrating operations, policy, guidance, plans, strategy and requirements of AFSPC space efforts with U.S. Air Force Headquarters, the intelligence community, the Joint Staff, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and other agencies, while representing the Commander of Air Force Space Command in daily interactions in the Washington area.
