Michael Hoffman appointed Senior Adviser to Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner

March 12, 2018: Michael Hoffman was appointed as a Senior Adviser to Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner, working to oversee the health crisis ta the Quincy Veterans Home, by Rauner on Friday, March 2, 2018. Hoffman, a retired U.S. Marine officer, was most recently the Acting Director of Illinois Central Management Services (CMS). Tim McDevitt was appointed to succeed Hoffman at CMS. McDevitt was most recently the CMS Chief Operating Officer. Before he worked in state government, Hoffman worked for more than fifteen years on active duty as a Marine Corps infantry officer. During his military service, Hoffman worked in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he was awarded two Bronze Star Medals, one for valor in combat. He was the CMS Acting Director since January, 2016. His appointment is effective immediately. McDevitt previously held positions in state government as the Deputy Director of Government Transformation and the Acting Director of the Illinois Lottery. McDevitt has been a senior adviser to the Governor on personnel, procurement, labor relations, and operational improvement initiatives.
