Oregon State Sen. Jeff Kruse, Republican, resigns from office

Feb. 12, 2018: Oregon State Sen. Jeff Kruse, Republican, announced on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, that he would resign from office soon. Kruse has been in the State Legislature for twenty-two years. He said he plans to stay in office through the end of the current legislative session, which ends on March 15, 2018. Kruse submitted his resignation in a brief, two-sentence letter to Secretary of State Dennis Richardson. Kruse resigned after an independent investigation found he allegedly sexually harassed several women during many years in office. In a separate statement, Kruse continued to deny the allegations made against him by at least two fellow Legislators and several lobbyists and staffers.
