Mark Keel re-appointed as South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Chief

Feb. 12, 2018: Mark Keel was re-appointed as the Chief of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) by Gov. Henry McMaster on Jan. 31, 2018. Keel was first appointed to the position by former Gov. Nikki Haley in June, 2011. Keel has worked in law enforcement for more than forty years. Keel started his career at SLED in 1979 after he graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1979. While working at the agency, Keel received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1995. Keel is also a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy, and the FBI National Executive Institute. The FBI is a division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
