U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Republican, appointed as Member, Senate Armed Services Committee

Jan. 11, 2018: U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, South Carolina Republican, has been appointed as a Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. On the Committee, Scott joins fellow South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham. Scott was appointed to an open U.S. Senate seat in 2012 by former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and he subsequently won a special election to finish out the term of retired Sen. Jim DeMint. Scott was re-elected to the seat in 2016.
