Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback re-nominated as U.S. Ambassador-At-Large for International Religious Freedom

Jan. 10, 2018: Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, Republican, was re-nominated as the U.S. Ambassador-At-Large for International Religious Freedom by President Trump on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. Brownback was first nominated to the post in July, 2017, but he failed to receive a confirmation vote in the U.S. Senate. Under Senate rules, that meant that Trump had to re-nominate Brownback after he was not confirmed at the end of the last Senate session, and his nomination was returned to the White House. The timing of a Senate confirmation vote for Brownback remains uncertain.
