Gregory Slavonic nominated as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs

Dec. 7, 2017: Gregory J. Slavonic was nominated as the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. Slavonic, of Oklahoma, was most recently the Chief of Staff for U.S. Sen. James Lankford, Oklahoma Republican. Before that, Slavonic was a senior executive at the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), where he worked on U.S. Navy projects. Slavonic has also worked as the executive director of the Jim Thorpe Association and the president of Flagbridge Strategic Communications, a consulting company. Slavonic retired from the Navy as a Rear Admiral after a thirty-four-year military career. During his Navy career, he held four command assignments; and he worked in combat deployments to Vietnam, Operation Desert Shield/Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He won several awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, and Combat Action Ribbon. Slavonic received an M.Ed. from the University of Central Oklahoma.
