Shelly Alvey appointed as Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorney

Dec. 4, 2017: Shelly L. Alvey was appointed as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 55th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky by Gov. Matt Blevin on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. Alvey, of Lebanon Junction, Ken., was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Jefferson County from 2002 to 2005, and from 2014 to 2017. Most recently, she was assigned to the Violent Crime Unit, where she prosecuted career criminals and gang-related offenses. From 2011 to 2014, Alvey was the First Assistant Bullitt County Attorney. Alvey is a native of Breathitt County. She received her law degree from the University of Louisville.
