Paul Washington resigns as Denver Economic Development Office

August 10, 2017: Eric Hiraga was hired on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, as the Executive Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development. Hiraga was most recently the Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff at the Denver International Airport. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said that Hiraga is scheduled to continue advising the Airport. Hiraga was the first person appointed to the newly-created post of Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff at the Airport in 2012. Hiraga was appointed to the position by Hancock. Hiraga first joined the Airport staff as an Adviser in 2009. In his new post at the Economic Development Office, Hiraga succeeds Paul Washington, who resigned from the city post in March, 2017, to join the commercial real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. as its Rocky Mountain regional leader. Washington held the post since 2011.
